[ad_1] The first Ineos Grenadier SUVs for the U.S. market have started rolling off the production line, Ineos Automotive announced on Friday. The automotive division of British chemical giant Ineos said the first U.S.-bound Grenadier—a Belstaff Fieldmaster grade finished in Scottish White—cleared the quality inspection area at the company's factory in Hambach, France, in the past week. The factory, which once produced Smart cars, was purchased from Mercedes-Benz in early 2021 and has been producing Grenadiers for other markets since late 2022. Ineos claims to have more than 7,000 orders for the Grenadier in the U.S., making it the company's largest market. U.S. customer deliveries are scheduled to start in November. 2024 Lotus Eletre, Auto Martin Valour, 2025 Lamborghini Huracán successor: The Week In Reverse

My Blog
[ad_1] We drove the 2024 Lotus Eletre, Aston Martin revealed the Valour, and the 2025 Lamborghini Huracán successor broke cover. It's the Week in Reverse, right here at Motor Authority. We drove the 2024 Lotus Eletre and learned it's a solid luxury EV, but it's not really a Lotus. It's a powerful and roomy SUV, not a light and nimble sports car like other products from the brand. It will be a challenge for interested customers to buy an Eletre due to a nearly nonexistent U.S. dealer network.  Porsche announced an updated My Porsche app for iPhones, which will solve the inconvenience of exiting Apple CarPlay's interface to adjust certain vehicle functions. The updated app integrates core vehicle functions into CarPlay's interface. The Aston Martin Valour debuted with retro looks,…

VW Group SSP EV platform due in 2026 with 12-minute charging

My Blog
[ad_1] Volkswagen Group held an investor presentation last week in which it provided an update on plans for a highly modular electric vehicle platform known as the Scalable Systems Platform (SSP) that will eventually underpin most vehicles across the automaker's portfolio of brands. The SSP platform was first announced in 2021 by former VW Group CEO Herbert Diess, who at the time said the platform would debut in 2026 in a compact model from the Volkswagen brand, code-named Project Trinity. However, current VW Group CEO Oliver Blume delayed the platform's introduction pending a review on all major projects, which he initiated after replacing Diess in 2022. During the recent investor presentation, VW Group said the SSP platform is back on track for a 2026 introduction—and with improved performance. The automaker…

Florida wants to pave roads with radioactive waste

Florida wants to pave roads with radioactive waste

My Blog
[ad_1] Florida lawmakers have produced a bill that would have the state pave its roads with radioactive waste. Now on the desk of Gov. Ron DeSantis, HB 1191 could compel the Florida Department of Transportation to study the use of phosphogypsum—a radioactive byproduct of fertilizer production—as a paving material, according to an NPR report. The bill, which is reportedly being opposed by conservation groups, sets an April 1, 2024 deadline for Florida's transportation department to make a recommendation on the use of phosphogypsum. If approved, the material would be used alongside other aggregates like crushed stone, gravel, and sand. Florida is a major producer of fertilizer, and that leaves a lot of phosphogypsum as waste. Phosphorous is an important component of fertilizer, helping plants to grow strong roots and increasing crop…

Nürburgring now requires cars capable of at least 80 mph

My Blog
[ad_1] Germany's Nürburgring is one of the most popular racetracks in the world, thanks in part to the track's management regularly hosting “tourist rides” where members of the public can bring their own vehicle and take on the Green Hell. The current cost of a lap is 35 euros (approximately $39), and the entry also comes with some restrictions. One of these is a minimum speed of 130 kph (approximately 80.7 mph). According to Road & Track, the minimum speed was only recently increased from a previous speed of about 37 mph, and may mean that some classic cars will no longer be allowed. There are plenty of other restrictions that apply to vehicles taking part in the tourist rides. Some of them include vehicles needing to be under a…
